I did come across one thread that had some interesting suggestions (although I'm not sure it's exactly what I'm looking for). Honestly, my favorite RPGs weren't necessarily stat-heavy, but it something that appeals to me I hope that one day I am able to play Dark Souls. I have tried searches for games like Dark Souls, but it usually comes up with games that are incredibly difficult rather than stat-heavy RPGs.

I personally liked both of these and there's PLENTY of mods for both games to last you for at least a decade. There's also Fallout 3 and or Fallout New Vegas, which is turn-based and action-RPG mixed altogether. If you're running one character, you don't need those slots because it's enough slots for two character builds anyway. The only reason people pay in that game are usually for cosmetic items or for slots because they're running more characters than one.

Could give that a shot as well because it's free, has everything you'd ever need to beat the game without you needing to pay anything. Path of Exile is an F2P game that is very stat heavy and is considered the true successor of Diablo 2. I wish the game could get more attention, really underrated. Just read the reviews and watch some gameplay footage, there's a person that speedrun the game as an assassin on the hardest mode possible.

The class system is also pretty good, has everything you'd ever want in a game aside from the issue of being too short and too linear. Dark Messiah Might and Magic, the best fighting mechanics you'll find in a fantasy rpg game.
